Projects

Hyper isn't just the Festival... Hyper runs a variety of projects through the year with communities in the City of Swan to support young people in developing their skills and opportunities, with a focus on the arts.

Hyper is all about promoting young people's talents and abilities and showcasing them at Hyper Festival, a massive platform for young people to make their mark and gain the confidence they need!

Check out the links on the left for more information on Hyper projects as well as our Inclusion focus area's.

There are no projects running at the moment, everything for 2011 is complete.

Keep an eye on this space for upcoming projects in the new year.

Below are a couple of projects that happened in 2010 which ended up being pretty successful and VERY massive!

Hyper Digitalism – Commence in June 2010, focusing on ‘cutting edge’ digital arts, including animations, web based technology and VJ-ing. The project will include a Forum in July for young digital artists around Perth in partnership with peak arts body ‘Propelarts’, and ‘master class’ workshops leading up to the Festival in September. The final works will be featured on a giant LED screen at the Hyperfest event.

‘We Built This City’ – aims to build intercultural arts in local communities across Swan. It includes music, dance, and visual arts projects in locations across Swan. Ballajura, Altone and Ellenbrook were the communities involved in this project, all groups will be involved in Hyper Festival in some way, the music crew will be performing on the Force Stage during the Festival, the dance crew will be shown on the Hyper screens and the arts crew will have their works up around the Festival site for everyone to see… wondering which these are? Check out the massive 5 metre banners! Yep that’s them!

And these aren’t the only projects we’ve run. Some include:

  • GOS – Girls on Stage where young females got to do workshops in singing, photo shoots and a major forum with some VERY motivational women in the music industry to promote the involvement of girls on stage
  • Keep Australia Beautiful – there were a few projects in 2009 that looked at the issue of rubbish, waste and recycling so the team decided to run a heap of workshops about what you can do with recycled materials… junk to jewellery was one of those, where you literally make jewellery out of junk. Other stuff included designing an artwork to go on the side of a waste truck that will drive around the City of Swan + making binsketball hoops & other boards to make it more interested throwing rubbish in the bin
  • Heists -  Hyper ran a heap of events with communities around the City of Swan to promote live music in the areas and get the young crew more involved in the organisation side of things

So in 2012 expect some BIG things from us! We will definitely deliver some great projects. There’s nothing happening after Hyper Festival yet but keep an eye on this space in the next few months and register for our upcoming workshops and projects.
