in 2011 we had FREE workshops every Thursday night for the full month of July!!!

Where: Midland Gate Market Centre

When: All workshops run every Thursday 6pm – 9pm during July– 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

ZOMBIE INFESTATION: Midland Gate is an Infected Zone!

What’s the go?

Rock up at Midland Gate Market Centre on a Thursday night during the month of July, score the place like a rabid zombie and then sit patiently whilst learning how to apply zombie make up.  Then you are photographed – cue zombie pose – and stuck to the wall of one of our exhibition boards scattered around Midland Gate.

Why?

Well Stagecraft make up is freaking awesome and ought to get more attention, clearly lots of zombie make up workshops are the best way to do this.

With who?

Naturally, this kind of thing is done by professionals, read: make up professionals (can’t say anyone on the Hyperteam has actually met a professional zombie yet).  The likes of which are: Naomi D Lynch, a Stagecraft makeup consultant who works with FTI (Fremantle Film & Television Institute) and Polytechnic TAFE.

Take a Snap... with ‘Home is Where My Heart Is’ Photo Booth

What’s the go?

You come by: pick a set/props/etc. get your photo taken, which then gets emailed out to you, plus pinned up somewhere in the Hypervision exhibition AND help fundraise for ‘Home is Where My Heart Is’ by a gold coin donation

Why?

The ‘Home is Where My Heart Is’ exhibition is all about raising awareness for youth homelessness, where young homeless people work with photographers to create their own fantastical images.  It’s a big issue and we’d like people to know about it.

With who?

The lovely folks at YEP (Youth Educating Peers) will be helping out with this event, with photographer James Campbell.

My (Stenciled/Screen-printed/Painted) Bags and Shoes are better than yours

What’s the go?

Swing by for the chance to have self decorated canvas bags and shoes, yes they are provided, we don’t expect you to have this item with you.  Although no one’s going to stop you using your own! There will lots of painting, screen-printing and stenciling tools available but if you don’t like art, creativity and are against individuality this activity is probably not for you.

Why?

Mainly because it’s fun, you get to have shoes/bags that are different, apparently that’s all the rage these days...

With who?

Professional artist Campbell Whyte will be all over this one, he’s been on some version of this workshop from its beginning so essentially he’s very very good at it.
